About
Dave Hansen
Dave’s customers rave about his honesty, experience, and professionalism as an auto mechanic, so we’ll let them tell you why you should use his auto repair shop in Shawnee.
My daughter’s alternator failed on Tuesday evening and my wife was recommended to contact Dave Hansen. On Wednesday morning my wife went to see Dave and explained to him that my daughter’s car is her only form of transportation to work and to child care in Parker. Dave agreed to have the car towed in that day to begin work on the car. Dave called me to explain that, indeed, the alternator was defective, he told me the price of the alternator and explained that the alternator on the car is “buried” on the engine and explained what he anticipated the labor to be as the alternator is very hard to get to.
I authorized Dave to do the work and he said that the car should be ready late the following day. Around 1:30 on Thursday Dave called to say that the car is ready to be picked up and the total bill was as Dave thought that it would be prior to starting work.
The whole experience was top notch and I would highly recommend Dave to anyone.

Dave is great no matter what kind of car you bring him! Old or new, he knows how to fix just about anything. He is honest, doesn’t try to do more than what is needed.

I failed two 2 emissions tests and then had a hard time finding a mechanic who was willing to work on a Volvo 240. Dave diagnosed it, gave me an estimate, and located hard to find parts. All this in one working day and the cost was $50 less than the estimate. Finally passed the emissions test. Highly recommended = Dave is really passionate about his work.

Dave, the owner, has extensive knowledge and expertise in the field. He earned my business over 7 years ago and I never worry when I have to leave my car with him. He is trustworthy, honest and fast! Out of all the years I have brought my car to him I have only had to leave it with him overnight one time. Most of the time if I schedule the work that needs to be done he has it in and out in one day. I am a very happy customer.

Dave is the best. Smart, experienced, honest, and funny. I feel very safe with him looking after my car.
I have to update this review as Dave’s professionalism just hit a high that is quintessential of how he operates. I had trouble with a part (not his work, but the PART) he installed, and despite the fact that I have moved to Buffalo New York, he was johnny on the spot, working with my new mechanic to get the issue corrected. He shipped the replacement part, talked with the mechanic about the issue and generally made my part in the process completely painless. The expression “Do the right thing even when no one is watching” was made for Dave Hansen. You don’t need to look further for an exceptional mechanic.

Small shop that does great work. Extremely trust worthy and has NEVER tried to upsell me. Works on all my cars and and have never been disappointed. Only drawback is that he is always busy and not open on Saturdays. But I always wait for him to get to me because he is worth it!

I have used its owner Dave Hansen for years as do my 3 daughters and many others I have sent to him. He is honest and always discusses the problem before starting any work. He does superb repairs using high quality parts. If he replaces a water pump or alternator it will not die in a year because of using cheap parts. If your problem is not worth fixing he will tell you rather than simply going ahead. If you think you need something fixed or replaced and he doesn’t he will tell you. His prices are certainly reasonable for the high quality work and parts he provides. He can do all warranty work without voiding a warrant. DO NOT use dealer repair shops.

Although the dealership provided me with a Carfax report on the car that showed no accidents, Dave discovered that it had body damage that had been repaired. He also reported that the a/c compressor was on its last legs. Altogether, about $2500 in repairs would be needed in the near future. The dealership was not willing to reduce the price in any significant way to make up for these deficiencies. I guess they figure they’ll sell it to some sucker who isn’t smart enough to get it checked out before buying.
